Broken Goods

August 20th, 2011 by Terry Craven

If an item one buys breaksdown within 6 months of purchase, the onus is on the seller to prove it is not broken, not you to prove it is. In these circumstances you are entitled to a full refund. Unless you agree to an exchange which is your prerogative!

Do not buy extended warranties unless dirt cheap

August 19th, 2011 by Terry Craven

Not a lot of people know this, to coin a phrase by Michael Caine. When one buys something in a shop. The sale is covered by the Sale of Goods Act 1979(as amended). Just because it has a guarantee for 12 months does not mean if it breaks-down after 12 months the buyer has to foot the bill for a repair or replacement. The law of the land demands that price equals quality, it is absurd to argue that a washing machine which develops a fault say after 13 months is the responsibilty of the owner to repair or replace. it is not it is the shop where you bought, not the manufacturer the shop.

Most shops try to fob customers off with things like its the manufacturers fault or its the customer’s responsibility. Its not.

Have’nt you ever wondered why it states, “this does not affect your statutory rights” when buying an extended warranty. This is because you are protected in law and there is no need to buy the warranty. Always consider the washing machine or whatever you buy may appear cheap but buying the warranty pushes the price up. Would you buy a washing machine for £800.00?

important.  Eugene McCarthy US politician  (1916 – 2005)

Good Morning all, another day another dollar.

Getting older is no problem. You just have to live long enough (Groucho Marx):

By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.(Confucius)

Liverpool and the riots

We should concentrate on the Scouse community spirit which was demonstrated after the riots and during the clean up. Not the scum who pillaged and plundered.
